England Rugby Player Testimonial

ALEX CORBISIERO

England and London Irish professional rugby player (Prop Forward)

“I had my nutrition status assessment and food intolerance tested under the advice of our team nutritionist Laurent Bannock. I found that I’m intolerant to a number of things, mainly wheat and dairy. I have currently  been wheat, dairy and gluten free for 6 weeks. I have not changed anything in my diet (over and above my personal sports nutrition program) except eliminating my main intolerances, I have already seen increases in my lean mass and a decrease in my fat at a time in the season I usually see the opposite. Apart from body composition (fat/muscle levels), the main area I have felt better is with my digestion and  gas. I have seen a massive decrease in digestion issues especially the sensitivity of my stomach in the morning. Over all I feel much healthier and am happy I followed it through.

Case Study: Novak Djokovic (World No.#1 Tennis Champion)

If you follow tennis, the name Novak Djokovic will be very familiar to you! Although relatively unknown only a few years ago, this Serbian tennis champion has this year won the Davis Cup, Wimbledon, the Australian Open and reached the finals of the US open and according to various reliable news reports it is all down to his new diet! Well, I’ll also accept that his genetics, tennis skills and overall hard work are also due some credit – but Djokovic himself claims that the biggest performance enhancing changes he has made recently was to cut out gluten from his diet and swears to its benefits!

Since gluten is found in most grain based foods, such as bread, bagels & pasta, which are staples ot many active people and athletes – this is one food substance worthy of keeping an eye on!

This is of course is no surprise to me, as I already have tried this with many elite athletes and regular people with impressive results in all of them. Of course, not everybody is gluten sensitive, and in fact most of us are not likely to be Celiacs (the disease caused by serious gluten intolerance) but it is fact that gluten can cause at least some stress to many peoples guts and since a large percentage (+/- 80%) of our immune system is focused on the gut – you can see why this can only be beneficial to those with health challenges and especially to elite athletes where anything that helps the body function better and recover faster can make the difference to winning or not even getting into the competition, Just ask Djokovic!

Case Study: Paula Radcliffe (World Record Holder: Marathon)

Are any of you suffering from stomach cramps and fatigue but unsure as to what could be causing their symptoms? The answer could be found in taking a Food Intolerance Test!

When Olympian and World Record Holder Paula Radcliffe started to suffer from stomach cramps and fatigue that were so unbearable it affected her training. She was recommended to do a food antigen lab test (food intolerance), the test helped her identify whether any of the foods she was eating were affecting her health.

Her test came back informing her she was intolerant to egg, chicken, wheat, tomatoes and dairy.

“After I cut these foods out of my diet, I was able to run without doubling up in pain. I have a lot more energy and I am back to my normal self. It truly made such a difference to my life and I would recommend it to anyone else suffering from symptoms like these.”

As soon as Paula started to cut her trigger foods out of her diet she noticed an instant difference as she was able to function normally again. Paula was able to continue training and her performance improved, going on to achieve the world record!

“I was back to my normal training regime in no time. The lab test made such a difference to my life because the test identified foods that my body had a bad reaction to and I was able to stop the symptoms before they reached the extreme level I experienced during the Athens Olympics.”

After some time on her new diet Paula returned for a retest of her food intolerance test to help monitor the level of her IgG antibodies. Her results came back as a surprise as she learned that she had a high reaction to blackcurrant, yeast, soya bean, gluten and chilli pepper. Paula was advised on how to best eliminate these foods from her diet without taking away their key health benefits.

“I was shocked that I could be intolerant to these foods as they are not the usual suspects, it made sense as I was drinking blackcurrant juice nearly every day; yeast and gluten was in virtually every meal and I included peppers in my food several times a week”.
